STCW Personal Survival Technique Update (PSTU)
The STCW approved mandatory survival course for anyone working as core crew on a merchant vessel and is accredited by the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA).
Description
The STCW Personal Survival Techniques Refresher Training is set up to offer prospective delegates with the necessary training to maintain proficiency as required in the STCW 2010 Manila Amendments. The half a day course is comprised by a blend of theory development and practical experience. Non-swimmers are permitted on this course and will always be supervised by fully qualified instructors.

Prerequisites

A STCW Personal Survival Techniques award or equivalent.

STCW refresher training should be taken by delegates with either of the following:

Seafarers who have 6 months or more sea service prior to 1 August 1998 and were exempt from basic safety courses

Seafarers who have a certificate of Proficiency in Personal Survival Techniques and have maintained the required standard of competence through onboard training and experience for all competencies listed in the self-declaration form

Provisional delegates are required to provide a signed self-declaration form as prerequisite to attending the PST refresher course.

Photographic ID (A Government issued, photographic proof of identity on the day of the course and this should take the form of either a valid Passport or a driving license or a valid discharge book).

Certification
Successful candidates will receive an MCA approved STCW Updated Proficiency in Personal Survival Techniques award, after a short exam.
