Who is this course for?
Stay compliant—and confident—with our STCW Designated Security Duties Training (Table A-VI/6-2), the advanced ISPS Code course for seafarers who carry out specific ship security tasks as part of their role. Designed for Ship Security Assistants, deck and engine officers, ratings with security responsibilities, cruise and ferry crew, offshore support staff, superintendents and port facility personnel, this course builds on the Security Awareness level to give you the knowledge and practical skills to conduct security patrols, control access points, screen people and cargo, respond to breaches, maintain security equipment, and assist the Ship Security Officer during drills and real incidents.
Fully aligned with the 2010 Manila Amendments and incorporating the latest guidance on maritime cyber security and emerging threat patterns, the programme combines classroom learning with realistic shipboard security scenarios, ensuring you can act decisively at ISPS security levels 1, 2 and 3.
Why enrol? Port State Control, flag state inspectors, and shipping company audits demand proof of a valid STCW Designated Security Duties certificate for anyone assigned security tasks. Without it, you risk being removed from duty or denied boarding, causing operational delays. Holding this qualification demonstrates you are trained, compliant, and ready to protect crew, passengers, vessel and cargo in line with international security standards.
